- Thu - 5.03 mi @ Castlewood before work in
morning nice and easy
- Fri - 16.37 mi | 5.12mi Francis Park loop before work no
watch. No practice today due to spring break, movie with brother then
ran ~3.5mi w/ Jeff, Brandi and Cale on Grant's Trail. After that went
back out and got in ~7.75mi on Grant's trail from their house to out past
Clydesdale Park and back wearing regular watch and timing it.
51:49 @ 6:41 avg for 7.75 miler
- Sat - 11.2 mi | 5mi FE social run before work.
6.2mi @ Forest Park after work to shake out the legs, great weather!
Ran perimeter loop plus a little extra.
40:32 @ 6:32 avg - 7:04, 6:40, 6:25,
6:27, 6:27, 6:30, 1:02 splits for 6.2 miler
- Sun - 0 mi
April 5th - April 11th: Got diagnosed with flu and
strep, that explains the throat issues developing last week! Ugh...
- Mon - 0 mi - went to doctor and learned I have both the
Flu and Strep Throat...joy.
- Tue - 0 mi - stayed home and rest all day
- Wed - 0 mi - stayed home and rest all day, no work
- Thu - 1.1 mi - stayed home and rest all day, no work.
In the evening I went out for a very very easy jog to see how the body felt
as I would be going to work the next day, thank god it was only a mile! :)
- Fri - 0 mi - back to work, still not the best but better
at least, throat really dry if talking long periods of time, medication
helps for the most part
- Sat - 5.5 mi @ Creve Coeur Lake after work to test the
legs, again nice and easy. Lots of phlem and spitting but managed a
decent pace actually - used my normal watch to time and just ran to iPod, in
the 6:40's avg so not bad
- Sun - 6.1 mi @ Forest Park after work, again another easy
run to see how the body holds up on some hills. For the most part an
okay run and about similar pace to yesterday although I just don't feel that
strong again yet
- Weekly Total = 12.7 miles
April 12th - April 18th:
- Mon - 0 mi
- Tue - 8.54 mi @ Chubb Trail West Tyson
side, saw Feder in the morning and his adjustments really cleared out the
sinuses which was awesome! Got in an easy run with the gel-bot on the
hillier trails of Chubb to check out the course before Saturday, the run
went very well. By the end of the day though my throat really bothered
me and upon checking it out it was very inflamed on the right side and had a
nice huge spot on it - was not there that morning. WTH?!
- Wed - 0 mi, throat continues to be a bother, but
everything else seems to be better?
- Thu - 0 mi, went back to the doctor today as my
medications ran out and wanted to see if they might suggest any solutions -
turns out I developed a canker sore on the throat....how the hell does that
happen?!?!?! That sucker got huge and thankfully they gave me some
medication to help as well as I picked up some oral gel to numb that sucker,
otherwise they said not much to do than let it heal which takes roughly 2
weeks...ofcourse I have a 25K trail race this weekend! My body just
won't let me win and be healthy for once....decided no running anymore till
race day then.
- Fri - 0 mi
- Sat - 18.5 mi @ Double Chubb 25K Trail
Race - got in a 3 mile warm up roughly and then ran the race. Cool
down consisted of walking a bit and then getting a Dunkin Donut to celebrate
the victory and new course record as I defended my win from last year and
bettered my time by almost 90 seconds. If only I was fully healthy for
this race....I think I easily would have gotten my first goal of being under
1:40 on this course....perhaps next year if I do it again? I dunno yet
as this is the 2nd year in a row that I got sick leading into this race.
- Sun - 0 mi
- Weekly Total = 27.04 miles
April 19th - April 25th:
- Mon - 5.1 mi @ Francis Park loop before work, used this
as a shake-out run from the race Saturday as the legs were a bit stiff.
7:31, 7:13, 7:07, 7:13, 7:02, 0:31
splits 5.1 miler
- Tue - 11.2 mi | 6mi @ Creve Coeur Lake after morning
staff meeting - great run as I took the first 3 miles easy and then picked
up the pace a little bit on the last 3 miles and felt very smooth and
relaxed. After track practice I decided to make the trek up to the SC
social run and ran the 5.2mi loop there with AJ, Dave and Scott in reverse -
again, legs felt awesome on this run as I just used my normal watch to time
the run, not worried about pacing.
6:53, 6:43, 6:41, 6:05, 5:55, 5:48
splits @ Creve Coeur Lake 6 miler
34:42 @ SC social run for 5.2 miles
- Wed - 10.9 mi | 5.7mi @ Queeny Park
before work easy perimeter loop plus an inner loop.
After work ran an easy 5.2mi loop from home in my
Sinisters - very light weight as I wanted to get a few runs in them before
the weekend, may use these as a racing flat perhaps. Felt pretty good
though.
7:04, 6:34, 6:16, 6:38, 7:10, 4:44
splits @ Queeny Park 5.7 miler
7:10, 6:56, 6:44, 6:25, 6:34, 1:12
splits from parents home 5.2 miler
- Thu - 0 mi
- Fri - 7 mi @ CH FF before work, ran out Baxter to Justus
Post, then back by Trailer Park towards the store for an easy morning run.
7:01, 6:31, 6:33, 6:21, 6:11, 6:18,
5:43 splits
- Sat - 15.8 mi | 5mi @ FE social run in the morning before
work easy run with regular watch. Worked 10-5 getting out late closer
to 6 and then high tailed it up to Frontier Park in St. Charles for the AM
Fun Run 10K race that started at 7pm - stormed all day but actually was
decent out for race time, although wind was brutal heading south along the
trail towards finish! Got in about 2.5mi warm up on the trail, raced,
then 2.1mi cool down. Dan was running in the 5K so we started together
which was great - tried talking him into running the 10K with me to no luck,
and after about roughly 1.5 miles or so his route turned off and then we
both were on our own, and slowed up. Slow time for me but not bad
considering the sickness and I haven't trained for anything shorter than a
25K really...so I will take this as a starting point.
32:08 @ 6:25 avg for Social Run in
morning 5 miler
- Sun - 0 mi
April 26th - May 2nd:
- Mon - 5 mi @ parents place before work, easy run with
regular watch. Legs felt really good this morning but kept it very
relaxed to the iPod.
33:00 @ 6:36 avg for 5 miles
- Tue - 6 mi @ Forest Park before track meet along inner
loop.
- Wed - 6.75 mi @ Wildhorse ext. loop before work - ran
10-20-10 workout going counter-clockwise
and added on subdivision along Baxter before heading back to store.
Overall run went very well as this was last minute decision about a mile
into the run to do the workout, legs felt smooth. 10min easy running,
then 20min tempo run, followed by another 10min easy running which basically
just took me back to the store so it was a bit longer. Intended to run
after work but got out late so decided not to and eat dinner instead, no
biggie.
- Thu - 8.25 mi @ Deer Creek / Bluebird loop before work
from parents place. Made a new loop kind of as I took the cut through
in Deer Creek over to Bluebird Park and then back via Manchester back to
home, overall went pretty good! Pressed for time though so didn't get
to really enjoy breakfast. Worked and then headed to track meet for
day 1 of Conference - my varsity girl vaulters went 2nd and 4th!
AWESOME
- Fri - 11.56 mi @ WG / Francis Park loop before work.
Relaxed long run, felt pretty good. Just after 11 miles though really
rolled my right ankle good - took the final half mile for it to go away some
what...frustrating.
- Sat - 0 mi
- Sun - 13.89 mi | 7.89mi @ Grant's Trail before work
10x2min/1min workout. 6mi Best Buy
loop after work from parents place
- Weekly Total = 51.45 miles
