Reside in the suburbs of St. Louis, MO. Graduated from Marquette High School May of 2000. While at Marquette I competed on the cross country and track teams my last three years there, making All-State as a senior in cross country and finishing 1 place shy of All-State later that year in track running the two mile (9th). In the fall I also competed on our school's bowling team for three years.
College attended the University of Missouri - Kansas City from 2000 to 2005 upon graduating with a Bachelors in Studio Art. I competed on our school's cross country and track teams all five years (red-shirting all of 2003, indoor track, outdoor track and cross country). Plagued by one injury after another since my freshman year, my final two years began to see consistent and healthy training after starting from complete scratch with my training (3 miles a week). I served as President of our Student Athlete Advisory Committee from 2003 - 2005 and as a team captain my fifth year.
In the fall of 2005 began coaching at Marquette High School in cross country while training under former high school coach Tim Cary. I competed my first marathon in the fall of 2006 at Chicago, finishing 437th overall of 40,000 competitors in a time of 2:47:57.
Spring of 2007 I began coaching over at Lindbergh High School as an assistant girl's track coach with the jumps (long, triple and high jump). Different from distance coaching yes but it has been very exciting and fun to coach and expand upon my knowledge in other areas of the track and field world.
April 2007 I completed my 2nd marathon at Boston, finishing 296th overall of 20,300+ competitors in 2:48:05. Weather played a huge role in very slow times for everyone that day as wind gusts of up to 50mph with a constant head wind along with on and off rain showers made it a cold and windy challenge!
In September 2007 I competed in the Quad Cities Marathon finishing 6th overall and the 2nd American to cross the line. I also took 1st in my age group since the top 5 got cash prizes, which I missed by 2min 53sec. I ran an 11min 3sec PR though in 2:36:54 so I was happy!
Aside from coaching I work at Fleet Feet Sports here in St. Louis, a running/walking store. Beginning in 2007 I am now the racing team coordinator there.
Early in 2007 I also became a level 1 certified coach through the USATF. Next step is to become a level 2, which will allow me to focus more on a specific area of interest rather than a broad overview like level 1.
