May 13th - Chevy's Cinco De Mayo 5K Run/Walk

    16:07 (3.14mi) @ 5:08 pace

Great weather, little windy.  Race was very even paced for me, just no speed.  Mike Aitken led the first mile with Steve West and I behind and Matt Hagenhoff behind us.  I split 5:08 at the mile with the four of us all still grouped together.  After that Steve West took the lead and I fell in behind him as we slowly pulled away from the others.  I sat about 1-2 strides back from him till with less than a mile to go I pulled up to his shoulder.  Once we hit Clarkson Road though the final time he pulled away from me and I maintained pace till finish.  I felt strong and good but just could not maintain a faster pace.  After the race I recovered very quick and was good for another race...this is becoming routine almost now with quick recovery, just not producing faster results.  Aggravating can only begin to describe my feeling on that!  I had a fun time though and pleased how even I ran since during the week I was nursing back a tight hamstring in my left leg which hampered my training this week.  I finished 2nd overall in the race.
