April 19th - "Marquette" workout - 1600/1200/800/400 w/ Dunhill recovery jog between each.

Ran Dunhill for warm up nice and easy, then did a few strides before starting.  Goal times were to be the same as previous time in the workout (5:20, 3:45, 2:20 and then blast the 400) so I aimed for anything between 75-80 sec for the 1600.  That went very well, felt nice and relaxed and strong the whole time - probably could have maintained that at least for another mile or 1.5 mi.  Jogged a Dunhill and some on the track and then tried to start off on the 1200 at 75 or faster.  The second lap I got caught up in the wind and ran a little slow so had to make up for that on the 3rd lap.  The 800 I wanted to start off at 70 sec and try to pick it up on that one.  I didn't want to go out too fast and die off like last time.  I ran close to that and then picked it up rather easily on the 2nd lap - just felt strong again!  Took Dunhill loop a little easier this time around to prep for that 400 - goal was to hit 60 sec or faster, no less.  I started off and at the 100-150 mark just seemed too slow for what I wanted, but thought that at least that meant I could pick it up more on the 2nd half.  Came through right at 30 to my surprise and then tried picking it up.  My legs didn't go all jell-o like this time around, but that wind didn't make things any easier on the home stretch.  I hit my 60 but overall it felt like a slow 60...a sign that I may be getting closer to that sub 60 open 400!
